GDOTEA Cartersville Chapter

Scholarship Program

The GDOTEA participates in a scholarship program for members or their dependents. The Cartersville Chapter awards $500 for 1st place and $250 for 2nd place. The individual who is awarded 1st place will go on to compete at the State level where 1st place is $1500 and 2nd place is $500.

Eligibility:

  1. Candidates must be a member of the GDOTEA or a dependent of a member. (A dependent will be the same as defined for State Health Benefits except the dependent may be married.)
  2. Candidates must be a high school graduate or have a Georgia Equivalency Diploma.
  3. Candidates must submit evidence of acceptance or probable acceptance at the school of their choice.

Program Requirements:

Candidates will be required to respond to a brief questionnaire to assist the selection panel in program evaluation.

Selection:

  1. A selection panel appointed by the Chapter President will rate each candidate for the Chapter Scholarship.
  2. The Board of Directors will rate candidates for the State Association Scholarships.
  3. The major factors to be considered by the selection panels are:
    1. Candidate's academic achievements.
    2. Candidate's financial need.

Award announcements will be made by May 15th.

2007 Winners

The 2007 District Six Annual Scholarship Award winners were:

First place is awarded to Ms. Alison Claire Woodworth, Daughter of Area Engineer, Area 3, Devon Brooks. Alison will attend The University of Georgia this fall, perusing a degree International Affairs and Spanish.

Second Place is awarded to Mr. John Isaac Conley, son of Mr. Harlan Conley, District Location Engineer. Isaac is in his junior year attending Kennesaw State University for a degree in Exercise and Health Science, his goal is to become a Physical Therapist.
